How to check the status of case filed by lawyer

21-Sep-2023 (In Civil Law)
Dear Sir/Madam, Good day, before 35 days I hired a lawyer for one of my criminal original procedure direction petition and lawyer told me that the petition was filed before 15 days at Chennai high court and gave me a case number. when I checked at on www.courtnic.nic.in, there is no data found. Please clarify me by email reply that how I can find the reality of my petition is filed or not? Because by my lawyer's replies I have doubt that he didn't filed the case / petition but gave me a fake case number just to stretch the time for some months.

You really want to know the status of the court, visit the information counter situated at the court premises. Else you could ask your advocate to take print out of the information from that information counter.

Generally case status will be updated in the system once the proceedings are started so meanwhile you cannot see the case number from the website. Better you get the hearing date from your lawyer and go to court directly and check whether the same was done or not.
