Can private security guard restrain someone from entering

Hi In housing societies and otherwise, is a citizen bound to obey private security guards? Do they have the power vested in themselves to restrain someone physically and not allow to access the property. For example, if I live in a housing society and my guest wants to walk in. Now suppose security tells him to wait until supervisor is around or some other reason. Then my guests decides to walk in without obeying the guard.
