Can I pay tax on encroached land and make it legal

13-Apr-2023 (In Civil Law)

This is a hypothetical question. A person has 100 sq yd plot, and has encroached upon another 100 sq yds owned by Govt. The person has owned this extra land for 20 years. Today he wants to pay Govt any challan and legalise that other 100yd. What is the solution?

As per your query, its upto the governemt’s discretion to transfer the land to the person's name or not, even after filing a challan against him/her.
Usually, such transfers are not done just by paying a challan.
