Can I ask for govt. job after my father's death

I am married, can I apply for compassionate job after my father's death. He was working in SECL.
The service rules of that organization will deals with this issue. If your father died on duty or course of the duty usually in that scenario such jobs are offered. It's not necessary for legal heirs to seek for compassionate job every time. You need to give written representation to concern department.
