2 feet is occupied on our empty land from past 20 years

15-Sep-2023 (In Civil Law)
Dear Sir/Mam, We have an empty land in chennai of length 40feet and breadth 60feet. For 20years it is an empty land but we pay land tax regularly. But while just measuring our land it seems that our neighbour is occupied 2feet (2*40feetlength=80sqft). What can we do now. If we move legally how long it will take to get judgement and how much we need to spend. Kindly advice please

hello sir., you can approach the VAO office near to your land and you need to pay the statuary fee for measuring the land. after paying the fees they ll come and measure your land if there is any occupation in your land they do the further proceedings. after those procedure if you are not satisfied in this otherwise there is no reponse from the office, then you can approach the court for further proceedings with the relevant documents

1year minimum it will take by that time before hand u can get injuction and get the land in ur hand and it will cost you around 30000 at least over all which u can claim from the party who has illegally taken the land once u win the case

First we need to understand that where is your property located. as you said your neighbour occupied some of your portions but here you didn't mention how the land was occupied? what type of construction is there on the occupied portion. there is possibility to retain your occupied space otherwise you can get compensation from the neighbour;.
