To get the custody of your children you need to draft your petition or reply properly in wchich u need to show and convience the court that you are best suited in terms of character, finance, stability that you can provide your childrens future . Courts are more incline towards giving custody of children to there mother but this depends on how you represent yourself in front of court.

If the both sons are currently in your custody then it that case, the father cannot take them away from you. But you should ensure that he does not take them away directly from school or tuition as they would not be denying a father the right to take away his sons. (You may inform the school/tuition in writing that only you or any person authorized by you shall take the sons home and not even the father or any other friend or relative. (You may try to file a kidnapping case if father takes away the sons as legally they are living with you)

Hence, normally if you have the custody of the sons, then the father has to file child custody petition in court and the case will go on. The court however, has the power to grant interim custody of sons to father till the final decision in the matter, hence, it is better to have an advocate argue a case to deny that relief.
