Can i take custody of child if the the mother is not taking care

My wife & in-laws left my house along with my 1yr old daughter without information and a GD has been lodged in the PS. I also came to know that she has left the baby with her parents and came to a different city to join her job. Below are my questions: 1) Can I go ahead and take local PS help in her city to get physical custody of my daughter, showing them the received GD copy which I have already lodged. I am also planning to file another GD at her local PS informing that I am taking physical custody of my daughter since my wife has abandoned the kid. 2) Secondly, after bringing my daughter at my place, I am planning to file GWA based on child negligence by mother and pleading for full custody for the development of the kid. Meanwhile I will also have my mother come along with me to take care of the kid while I am at work. This will help me have physical custody, should my wife come along with PS at my place. Please let me know if this is the optimal way forward.
