Relatives took money now misbehaving can we file case

hai i have one question to ask,we gave money to our relatives 1year ago and when we ask them about money they are misbehaving with us and not giving money,we dont have any promisory note ,we have only there cheques with us,can we file a case against them
As you have cheques with you you can get the cheque bounced and file a complaint case under section 138 of Negotiable Instrument Act against them. once you get the cheque bounced you have to send a legal notice to them and within limitation period if they do not respond to the notice you may file a complaint case against them
