What are the legal actions I can take in case of cheque bounce?
You have to file a case under section 138 of Negotiable act for that all cheques are required with the complaint that there was legal liability for which the cheque was issued....but before that uve to serve legal notice within 15 days...giving time to repay within 30 days...and after the service of notice ifor person fails to pay then uve to file complaint as abovesaid

First is criminal i.e. under 138 Negotiable isntruments act. In this you have to file complaint before the appropriate court after sending a demand / legal notice within stipulated period
And secound one is Civil remedy. You can file civil suit for recoverying your debt. This case can be filed within 3 years from the date of cause of action.

You may file a case under section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act 1881, provided that (a) the cheque has been presented to the bank within a period of six months from the date on which it is drawn or within the period of its validity , whichever is earlier .(b) the payee or the holder in due course of the cheque, as the case may be , makes a demand for the payment of the said amount of money by giving a notice in writing, to the drawer o the cheque, within thirty days of the receipt of the information by him from the bank regarding the return of the cheque as unpaid (c) the drawer of the cheque fails to make the payment of the said amount of money to the payee or , as the case may be to the holder in the due course of the cheque, within 15 days of the receipt of the said notice. Thereupon the complaint must be filed before the court within 45 days from the service of the notice.
In case of cheque bounce,(1) you may file a criminal case under section 138 of Negotiable Instruments Act, (2) You may file a summary suit for recovery under civil law, (3) You may file a criminal case for cheating.
