Cheque bounce proceedings in case of not aware of address

My friend given me cheque and it got returned due to account closed. He has vacated his house and not able to contact. Kindly suggest how to proceed legally.

As of the check and dishonor of the check makes the driver of the check liable for prosecution under section 138 of the negotiable instrument act. Since he is not available in the address, the notice can be sent to the same address. When it returns with the endorsement that addressee left or not available, it is the burden of the complainant to prove that the accused was residing in that particular address and it is the last known address of the accused to the complainant and complainant can maintain the case
