Can i submit post dated cheque in bank

06-Sep-2023 (In Cheque Bounce Law)
Dear madam/sir, My friend has issued a post dated cheque in Feb 2016 with no date mentioned on it for the money borrowed from me and was told to submit it after August 2016 anytime. Since I have the need for funds, can I mention the date as 6th September 2016 and present it for the payment? Would that be treated as a valid cheque? Request you to kindly advice.

It is perfectly alright to mention the date and present it for payment. While writing you should ensure that there is no overwriting or smudging. When once the the drawer of the cheque has signed the cheque, it means that he has given you the authority the fill the cheque as required and present it for payment.
