Can a deserter get a govt job?

07-Jun-2023 (In Armed Forces Tribunal Law)
If an officer is not allowed discharge from service and he becomes a deserter, then can he apply for govt job thereon? What if he doesn't disclose details of his previous employment? Or any other way? Moreover what would be the consequences?

Hi, the desertion is a crime in itself and no member of uniform forces are allowed to become deserter. There are several grounds and orders issued from HQ, under which discharge can be sought by the individual. Also, a deserter looses the right to be selected for govt jobs.

The Armed Forces permit Premature Separation from Service under certain conditions as described in HRP on subject. Desertion is no remedy as it is a continuous offence and you can be tried by GCM even after lapse of time. You may not be able to hide it though it is no bar to fiture employment as most employers will ask for certificate from previous employer.
