Questions Answered by Advocate Rina Pujara

Q: How to take divorce within 6 months of marriage

I am a Punjabi and have been married for 6 months and want to get divorced within less than a year instead of waiting for an entire year. Wife doesn't want to separate because of social name calling and her parents have indirectly threatened to kill me if I proceed.

Advocate Rina Pujara answered
Dear sir. It's not possible to get a mutual consent divorce within 6 months of marriage. If the wife is not ready for divorce then it is out of question to get mutual consent divorce. The only way is to file a contested divorce which will take time.
